The recovery of an architectural treasure: the Punta Begoña Galleries

The Punta Begoña Galleries (Getxo) are one of the most significant constructions in the Basque Country from the early 20th century due to the peculiarity of their use, the uniqueness of their location and the technology used in their construction. With the aim of recovering this building, a multidisciplinary research and restoration process that is open to the public has been implemented. Therefore, various groups of experts from the UPV/EHU and the UNESCO Chair on Cultural Landscape and Heritage are analysing the materials of the building, studying the geology of the area, carrying out conservation works on the paintings and ceramics and analysing the testimonies on the use of this infrastructure.

Four representatives of these groups will give a joint talk (in Spanish) under the title of “The recovery of an architectural treasure: the Punta Begoña Gallerieson 24th May at the Azkuna Zentroa (Bilbao).
