FameLab Workshop in the Basque Country

The Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU holds a training event organised by FECYT and the British Council – sponsors of FameLab Spain, the international contest of scientific monologues, in which over 25 countries will participate, in collaboration with the Chair of Scientific Culture of the UPV/EHU.

FameLab tries to find new voices in science to share research in a fun and rigorous way, through three minute monologues. In the 2015 edition, the selection phase will be open until 3 February 2015. Students, teaching and research staff can participate through a video telling a science story that captivates the public without presentations.

During the session, we will explain the course dynamics, we will show the main techniques to prepare a monologue, and we will teach the most useful tips to face the public.

The session’s programme is the following:

10:30 – 11:15 – FameLab Presentation – Representatives of FECYT and British Council.

11:15 – 12:00 – I was at FameLab – Experiences and learning by Santi García (@AitorMenta_) in FameLab Spain.

12:00: 13:30 – Masterclass on writing and performing monologues – Belén Rubio, actress and stand-up comedian.

13:30- 14:00 – Presentation of monologues by the candidates.

IMPORTANT: If you have an idea for a monologue or if you have already prepared one, you will have a chance to present it at the end of the masterclass, and Belén Rubio and Santi García will give you advice on how to improve its contents and your performance.
